Meanwhile, year after year we have to fight for meaningful investments in children's early behavioral health supports. The American Academy of Pediatrics, San Diego Chapter, proudly endorses the San Diego Health and Safety Act. This measure helps protect affordable care, works to keep local hospitals and clinics open, and aims to prevent our children and seniors from falling through the cracks. Beyond funding vital community and fire prevention programs, this measure would secure long-term funding to address the Tijuana River pollution crisis. Severe pollution in the Tijuana River Watershed threatens public health, coastal access, ecosystems and wildlife, and local economies in San Diego County. Despite being one of the most significant public health emergencies in the United States, there is no dedicated and sustainable funding source for the infrastructure solutions we need.
