Fights Tijuana River's Toxic Sewage

The Tijuana River toxic sewage crisis is one of America's worst environmental disasters. For years, entire communities are sickened by fumes emitting by the billions of raw sewage flowing into our communities, while our treasured coastlines are polluted and closed off.

State and federal politicians and bureaucrats have failed to act time and again. Measure B will stop the Tijuana River toxic sewage flows contaminating local beaches, bays, and coastal waters by building cross-border sewage treatment infrastructure that we in San Diego County control. No more waiting for Washington D.C. or Mexico. 

Measure B will build systems that capture and treat the raw sewage before it travels into our communities.

It will help clean up our air that is polluted with bacteria, chemicals, and pathogens from raw sewage, causing and worsen health conditions like asthma and skin diseases, and ultimately increasing demand in our already overburdened local hospitals. Measure B will help create indoor air protection programs for our schools and our community facilities, so that children and families can finally breathe easier.

The Tijuana River Estuary has also been severely degraded from decades of sewage, chemicals, trash and sediment being dumped into it on both sides of the border. Measure B will clean up trash and routinely dredge our most polluted river sites, and will help restore the Tijuana River Estuary and adjacent wetlands.
