Prevents Wildfires

Extreme weather is making wildfires more frequent, unpredictable, and severe across San Diego County. And it’s only going to get worse, not better. We must prepare.

We’ve seen what happens when communities are caught off guard. We saw the 2025 Los Angeles fires. We know we cannot afford to fall behind on response or prevention. A proactive wildfire defense is our only option.

Measure B will help us to continue to protect San Diego from extreme fire threats by putting more firefighters on the ground, ramping up brush clearing, and upgrading lifesaving equipment.

Recently, the San Diego County Fire Chief stressed the need to hire up to 60 new firefighters just to adequately staff a fire company. What's more, the county only has one nighttime firefighting helicopter and needs another because fire does not stop when the sun goes down.

Measure B will ensure our brave firefighters have the resources they need to combat escalating wildfires and prevent new fires from starting. Measure B will hire & train more firefighters and provide more preventative brush clearing and mitigation programs.

Here are the real-world impacts if we do not pass Measure B:

• We won’t clear as much brush or fire fuel in our canyons and neighborhoods

• We won’t have enough firefighters to respond to growing threats

• We won’t have the equipment or helicopters to stop wildfires from growing out of control

We cannot afford to let our guard down. Vote YES for Measure for stronger wildfire response and safer communities.
