PRESS RELEASE
Leagues of Women Voters San Diego & North County Endorses Measure B
SAN DIEGO, CA—Today, the Yes on B campaign has announced that the nonpartisan Leagues of Women Voters of San Diego and North County have endorsed Measure B, the San Diego Health & Safety Act, joining firefighters, nurses, community advocates and others in the fight to pass the citizen-led initiative to protect San Diego County’s critical public safety and health services.
The Leagues’ board of directors voted to endorse the measure given the health and environmental issues that the Leagues have long supported plus the need to support our most vulnerable families in the face of federal cuts.
Statement from Leagues of Women Voters of San Diego and North County
“The Leagues of Women Voters of San Diego and North County stand with San Diego County families in endorsing Measure B,” said Jane Andrews, chair of LWV of San Diego and Marian Clancy, LWV of North County San Diego. “In the face of the county’s $300 million budget shortfall, this measure aims to improve 911 response times, protect against catastrophic wildfires, and keep frontline healthcare workers on the job. Built on accountability, Measure B builds in transparency and taxpayer protections through mandatory public disclosures, independent audits, and citizen oversight to safeguard our community’s health and safety.”
Measure B is a citizen-led initiative on the November 2026 ballot designed to protect local healthcare coverage, public health programs, 911 emergency response, and combat the Tijuana River sewage crisis. Measure B is endorsed by community advocates and labor including Planned Parenthood Action Fund of the Pacific Southwest, San Diego County Firefighters CAL FIRE Local 2881, Surfrider Foundation, San Diego Coastkeeper, and First 5 San Diego.
